Participants will be provided a kit of pre-cut and pre-drilled chair parts and then be led step by step on the construction of their very own farmhouse chair to take home. The chairs are made of Bolivian Poplar and look great either painted or stained. The kits have been made by members of the Thomasville High School Craftsman Guild and all the proceeds from the event fund their trips to state and national competitions. The chair making will be led by the high school carpentry instructor and his students. The event will be held from 11 am until 4 pm Saturday, October 28. Volunteers needed of all ages and abilities to help us restore chair making in Thomasville. Come represent your community. Who knows you may connect to a future employer as engineers from Honda Jet, Volvo Truck, Thomas Built Buses and CEO of High Point Market Authority and dozens of others have participated in this event to BUILD A CHAIR and so much more.
